National Launch of Green Donor Carbon Bank on World Environment Day
Bhopal: On the occasion of World Environment Day, a significant initiative aimed at promoting environmental conservation and service to Mother Nature, the Green Donor Carbon Bank (GDCB), was officially launched at the national level.
During a dignified ceremony, the initiative was formally dedicated to the citizens of India, opening its platform for public participation in environmental stewardship and sustainability efforts.
The program was attended by Prof. Karunesh K. Shukla, Director of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Madhya Pradesh, and Eco Scientist S.D. Virendra Veerji, Principal Investigator (Environmental Studies and Research), The Eco-Earth Institute & Research Centre (EERC India). Both environmental leaders described the initiative as an important step toward strengthening citizen-driven environmental conservation in India.
According to the organizers, the Green Donor Carbon Bank (GDCB) aims to recognize, document, and encourage positive environmental actions such as tree plantation, water conservation, land greening, environmental awareness activities, and other sustainability-oriented efforts. Under this framework, citizens’ environmental contributions will be recorded in the form of Green Donor Credits (GDC).
Representatives of the organization stated that the initiative will enable every citizen to document their contribution toward nature conservation and become part of a structured national green movement. It will also help provide social and institutional recognition to individuals and organizations engaged in meaningful environmental work.
Participants present at the event welcomed the initiative and described it as an innovative effort to increase public participation in environmental protection. Experts believe that if people from different sections of society actively join the campaign, it has the potential to evolve into a large-scale national movement for nature conservation.
Speaking on the occasion, Eco Scientist S.D. Virendra said:
“Every good deed performed for nature becomes a new tree of hope for future generations.”
Registration for the Green Donor Carbon Bank has now commenced, and interested citizens can join through www.eerc.in/event. In addition, a dedicated WhatsApp Help Line has been launched, through which individuals can obtain information and assistance via chat during official working hours.
The organization has appealed to citizens across the country to actively participate in this environmental initiative and contribute toward building a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future for India.
